2012 Toyota Camry Debut

Reporters eagerly waited at Paramount Studios in Hollywood for the first glimpse of Toyota’s new 2012 Camry model.

This new Toyota Camry model continues a line that has placed 1st in American sales a record nine times since its release back in 1983.

The new 2012 has been completely redesigned from the ground up for the first time in 5 years. It boasts 8% higher performance on conventional fuel and improved safety features. The media system inside the car has been enhanced as well.

South Bay Classic

On August 20th, the “South Bay Classic” Golf tournament was held at the Los Verdes Golf Course.

Sponsored by the JBA, Honda and the South Bay Rotary Club, this charity event has been held annually and this year focuses on drug abuse prevention education for local youth.

This year, 300 people participated in the 24th running of the event, which has raised over $1.8 million in donations to date. Funds raised from this year’s tournament will be put towards drug education lectures by professional police lecturers.

Think Clean, Go Clean

The JPy event, “Think Clean, Go Clean” ran on August 27th in Carson.

At the event, a bicycle workshop was held.

Yu Yumoto, a popular personal trainer in Japan, ran the workshop and explained the exercise and benefits of using bicycles. As the representative of Japan’s Triatholon, Yumoto travels around the world speaking about problems like air pollution and congestion as well as speaking about the rise in demand for bike rental in cities like Paris. He suggests more use of bicycles in Los Angeles as well.

Also at the venue, were entries from a public art contest around the theme of air pollution in Los Angeles.

Horipro Auditions

Horipro holds yearly auditions to look for the next anime “seiyuu” voice actresses and this is the first time in 36 years that auditions were held in Los Angeles. Did they find talent in LA?
