Special Report: L.A.Bunnies

The Sakamoto family is a normal family in L.A. The children are seen playing with two bunnies. These bunnies actually faced death before coming to this family a year ago. Thanks to one lady in particular who played an important role.
Her name is Lejla Hadzimuratovic. She rescues the bunnies that are picked up from L.A. streets, recovering them and finding Foster homes and permanent homes. She first encountered these bunnies sold on the streets of Downtown L.A. Fashion District in 2008. This place is widely known for illegal selling of different products and there are watchmen all over. They look out for the police as well as media. These watchmen protect the selling of bunnies too. We found the illegal selling of bunnies on the day of our shoot. When we confront them, they quickly cover the bunnies with a large black bag and attack our cameraman, telling us to stop filming.
At the Animal Shelter, there are many dogs and cats that are deserted from careless owners. Bunnies are also here. There are those rescued from illegal selling on the streets to those who were deserted from owners because they are“too big.”If they do not find homes, they are put to sleep.
On January 15th, a call was made to Lejla that 5 bunnies were taken off the streets of Fashion District. This Cleaning company formed a relationship with Lejla and will make sure the bunnies don’t end up at shelters. First, Lejla will give antibiotics to the bunnies to prevent diarrhea. And then give milk because they can’t drink their mother’s milk anymore. Through research, she has found that goat milk is the best for baby bunnies. The bunnies are treated and sent to foster homes.
Lejla helped 500 bunnies last year. She cries out to owners the importance of love. It takes one person to save an animal that are thrown out by irresponsible owners.
