HPRMA Seminar


HPRMA, Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association, held a panel presentation called “Strategies for Promoting Healthcare to Asian Americans” on May 20th in downtown Los Angeles. They invited speakers who have experience working with the Asian American community in Southern California. The speakers noted that service was more important than cost, and stressed the importance of creating advertisements in their native language.

442 -Live with Honor, Die with Dignity- Press Conference


A press conference was held on May 20th at the JACCC (Japanese American Cultural & Community Center) for the documentary 442 -Live with Honor, Die with Dignity-. Director Junichi Suzuki explained that the film is about the 442nd Infantry Regimental Combat Team, the most decorated regiment for its size and length of service in the history of the United States military. Mainly composed of Japanese Americans during WWII, the “442” fought against not only the enemy, but also prejudice. The film comes out July 25th at the Aratani Japan America Theatre.

Spring 2010 Decorations –Takeo Uesugi-


A ceremony for the Spring 2010 Decorations was held on May 21st at the official residence of the Consulate-General of Japan in Los Angeles. Professor Emeritus of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Takeo Uesugi received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to the promotion and development of Japanese gardens in the U.S. Uesugi has designed famous Japanese gardens in the U.S., including the James Irvine Garden in Little Tokyo and the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, San Diego. Uesugi says he would like to continue creating Japanese gardens in which people can enjoy.
