Asahi Gakuen Graduation Ceremony 2010
-A Step Closer to the Future-


The Torrance Asahi Gakuen held their graduation ceremony on March 13th, First, Principal Ikeda handed diplomas one by one to 60 graduates of the elementary and junior high school classes. Consul General Ihara also visited the ceremony and gave a speech of encouragement to the graduates. Asahi Gakuen students go to their local schools on weekdays. On top of that, they go to Asahi Gakuen every Saturday to take classes in Japanese. The graduates were grinning from ear to ear at a photo shoot after the graduation ceremony.

Kenichi Mikawa Visits Keiro Retirement Home
-The Power of Music Encourages Seniors-


On March 17th, Japanese singer Kenichi Mikawa visited Keiro Retirement House in Boyle Heights. His visit was to encourage the residents of the retirement home. He sang 4 songs including his most famous song “Sasoriza no Onna” in front of approximately 200 residents. Mikawa shook hands with the residents one by one as he was singing heartily. His cheerful talk made them laugh and cheered them up. Mikawa also donated three-thousand-dollars to Keiro Senior Health Care.
