California Coastal Cleanup Day
The 26th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day was held on September 25. This event is held at beaches along the California coastline with to pick up debris along the shoreline. American Honda also participated at Torrance Beach. American Honda has participated for eleven years and strives to continue to be an environmentally friendly car manufacturer.
Autumn Fest
On September 25, JACCC, the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center held Autumn Fest, a charity event to raise funds for JACCC programs. JACCC, the largest Asian American cultural center in the U.S., presents free community programs to teach the Japanese arts and culture. JACCC, which raised funds through a silent auction and live auction, are expecting to raise up to $100,000 to gear toward community programs.
World of Takase
On September 30, JACCC opened World of Takase, an exhibit dedicated to architect Hiyahiko Takase. Takase has worked on eight buildings in Little Tokyo, including the Kajima Building, which he worked on during the restoration of Little Tokyo. The exhibit includes photos of the buildings and a model of Budokan of LA, the gymnasium that Takase is currently working on. For more information visit www.jaccc.org.
