The NAMM SHOW 2010
-Japanese Businesses in the Music Industry-


The biggest musical instrument trading show in the world, NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show, took place in Anaheim from 14th to 17th of January, and about 90,000 of music industry professionals from around the world visited the event. Guitar and bass manufacturer ESP’s founder, Hisatake Shibuya, received the “Believe in Music Award,” for his contributions to the music industry. ESP, Electronic Sound Products, produces guitars which have been used by famed artists such as Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora. SANYO displayed a rechargeable music battery, the “Eneloop Music Booster,” which could be easily used outdoor and places without AC power source. The digital piano “Privia” from CASIO, can play natural and mellifluous tones of a grand piano with vast dynamic range. TASCAM accentuated their new products such as a portable digital recorder, which could record sound in better quality than CD. As more products , there are great expectations for Japanese companies in music industry.

Little Tokyo Korea Japan Festival Press Conference
-Making a Bridge Between the Korean and Japanese Communities-


On January 13th, the press conference for the “Little Tokyo Korea Japan Festival“ took place at JACCC. Little Tokyo Korea Japan Festival is a cultural exchange event where you can enjoy Japanese and Korean films and food. Hongsun Kim, the president of Japan Korea Society, planned this event for harmonization between the Japanese people and Korean people in the US. Korean actor, James Kyson Lee, and Japanese actress, Eriko Tamura, who are the hosts of this event, attended the conference as well. The event will be held on February 6, at 11:00a.m. at the Aratani Japan America Theatre.

Livingstone CDC’s Grand Opening
-Providing Free Medical Services for Those in Need-


On January 16th, the Livingstone Community Development Corporation held its opening ceremony in City of Stanton in Orange County. This facility was built with the intention of providing medical services completely free of charge to those who cannot receive health insurance such as low-income earners, undocumented immigrants and international students. Not only does the facility practice ordinary medical examination but also do they practice dental work, and they are also well equipped with rehabilitation facilities.
