Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles' New Year's Reception
-Consul General Junichi ihara's New Year Greeting -


The 2010 New Year’s Reception sponsored by Japanese Consulate General in Los Angeles, took place on January 14, 2010. Approximately 500 dignitaries from the local Nikkei community, who were invited to the official residence of the Consul General, extended their sincere wishes to each other for a Happy New Year and enjoyed eating elaborate New Year dishes. At the party, the Consul General Junichi Ihara, spoke about bright perceptions about this year. Furthermore, since the Japan-US Security Treaty marked its 50 years in 2010, they are planning to hold various events.

JBA's New Year's Reception Party
-Continuing to Support Nikkei Businesses-


On January 15, 2010, JBA, Japanese Business Association’s New Year’s Reception Party took place at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens in Little Tokyo. The number of the members of JBA decreased by 5% as compared with last year, and President Shozo Kibata, says that he would like to get more members this year. He would like to continue a community-based activity, and strengthen friendly bilateral ties between Japan and Southern California

X Japan Shoots Several Music Videos in Hollywood
-8000 Fans Flock to Be a Part of the Excitement-


Japanese rock band X Japan shot several music videos on January 9, 2010, at the Hollywood and Highland center. Four songs, including their famous hit “Endless Rain,” were filmed atop the Kodak Theatre. The 500-million-yen (approximately 5-million dollars) project included three 20-meter cranes and over 800 staff members. The band advertised on their official website about the event, and over 8,000 fans from across the world flocked to Hollywood to be a part of it.
