Jimmy, a freshly divorced 40-year-old, lives with his sister Aiko and her family. He searches for a new wife, but his dates always end up as a disaster. This comedy depicts Jimmy’s life in the U.S., as family and friends support him. Hiroshi Watanabe plays Jimmy.
Japanese Folk Song and Dance Show
-Presented by the Southern California Japanese Folk Song Society-
The Southern California Japanese Folk Song Society held its 17th annual Japanese Folk Song and Dance Show at the James R. Armstrong Theatre in Torrance on September 13, 2009.
This show includes song and dance numbers by various groups learning Japanese traditional song and dance in Southern California. Eight groups performed to songs, which varied by prefecture, including Tokushima Prefecture’s Awaodori and Kumamoto Prefecture’s Otemoyan. The finale included a dance to Fukuoka Prefecture’s Tankoubushi, as each group showed off their elaborate kimonos.
Japan Airlines’ Airplane Class
-Educational Fun for the Whole Family-
Japan Airlines sponsored an airplane class at LAX’s Flight Path Learning Center and Museum on September 17, 2009.
This event was held for 100 JAL Family Club members for a fun but educational lecture about airplanes and air traffic safety. Real-life JAL ground crewmembers served as teachers, to explain about cargo planes in a lecture. The participants also had the chance to go onboard a cargo plane, to speak with pilots in the cockpit.
