Home Is Where the Heart Is
-For the Nikkei Senior Citizens-


Keiro Senior HealthCare held a benefit dinner at the California Science Center in Los Angeles on June 20, 2009. Over 430 volunteers and prominent figures of the Nikkei community attended the event, themed “Home Is Where the Heart Is.” Among the crowd was ABC7’s sports caster, Rob Fukuzaki, who emceed the event.

Keiro Senior HealthCare’s doors opened in 1961, with a vision of enhancing the quality of senior life particularly in the Nikkei community. As the largest healthcare provider serving the Nikkei community, they have cared for over 60,000 seniors and their families.

The dinner included a benefit drawing, in which the proceeds were donated to support the maintenance of Keiro Senior HealthCare’s facilities.

The night ended with dramatic monologues about Keiro Senior HealthCare by residents’ families.


Bridging USA & Japan Concert Preview
-A Sneak Peak at the Official Residence of the Consulate General of Japan-


A special preview of the Bridging USA & Japan Concert was held on June 23, 2009, at the official residence of the Consulate General of Japan.

The concert, which aims to bridge the U.S. and Japanese communities through music, commemorates the centennial anniversary of the Japan America Society of Southern California.

Among the performances is the chorus composed of 400 members of the Japanese and Japanese-American community, including Consul General Junichi Ihara. They will be performing songs such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, along with the Asia America Symphony, which will be conducted by David Benoit.

The Bridging USA & Japan Concert will be held on July 10, 2009, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
