The 69th Annual Nisei Week Opening Ceremony
-Nisei Week has Officially Begun-
The opening ceremony for the 69th Annual Nisei Week festivities was held at the Japanese American National Museum on July 19. 2009.
Nisei Week is held every summer in Little Tokyo as a way of celebrating the Japanese and Japanese American cultures.
Sponsors and community leaders attended the ceremony, and joined in prayer for the success of this year’s Nisei Week. The seven candidates for this year’s Nisei Queen. Nisei Week Foundation President Terry Hara says these young ladies will work as ambassadors of the Japanese American community.
This year’s Nisei Week festivities will be held from August 15 to the 23.
Senior Foundation C.C. Annual Luncheon
-Raising Funds for Senior Care-
The Senior Foundation held a luncheon at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, on July 19. 2009,
The Senior Foundation, a group that supports the seniors in the Japanese American community, sponsors this luncheon every year.
Many local businesses donated gifts for the raffle and silent auction, which the attendees participated in. Many of the attendees were those associated with Keiro Senior HealthCare, a leader in Japanese American senior health care.
Senior Foundation will reach its five-year anniversary next year, and they are planning for more projects in the future.
