Aiko Yamano Centennial Kimono Show The Fascinating World of Kimonos

The Aiko Yamano Centennial Kimono Show Took place on March 22, 2009, at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel.

This fashion show was held by beautician Jane Aiko Yamamoto to promote the culture of kimonos.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Jane is a Japanese American. She is the granddaughter of Aiko Yamato, one of the pioneers in the world of beauty in Japan, and the founder of the Yamano Group.

Jane calls her style “traditional and modern.” She incorporates new styles and concepts to the traditional culture of kimono that she learned from her grandmother.

Over 250 guests attended to see Jane’s kimonos. Of them is the “Jyuuni Hitoe,” which is one of the oldest types of kimonos. From the Heian Era, the royal family of Japan now wears this kimono at ceremonies. Jane’s originally designed wedding kimonos and fantasy kimonos, made of sequins and feathers, wowed the crowd.

Jane came to the stage during the finale and spoke to her guests about her anticipation to do another show in America.
Jane’s style of mixing traditional Japanese and modern American will help keep the kimono culture alive.
