Yoshiko Sakurai Lecture in Los Angeles
-The Beauty of the Japanese People-

Japan’s free-journalist Yoshiko Sakurai held a lecture on October 11, 2009, at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. At this lecture titled “The Beauty of the Japanese People,” Sakurai spoke on how the Japanese people lack knowledge in their own country’s history. During the second half of the lecture, Sakurai had a debate with educator and author Akihiko Reizei about how the Japanese in the U.S. should live. Sakurai strongly believes that the best assets that the older generations can leave behind is not wealth, but to show their children and grandchildren the honorable way of living independently. Sakurai’s captivated her Los Angeles audience.

The 21st Annual Mutual Trading Co., Inc. Japanese Restaurant Show was held on October 3, 2009. This trade show is a forum where business operators can discuss ideas directly with suppliers. This year’s theme was “Blazing Through the Cooling Economy –Japanese Food Culture Rising as the World’s Finest.” Many seminars were held in regard to how to cook Japanese food to match Americans’ taste. Mutual Trading says despite the economy, Japanese food will continue to grow its popularity in the U.S. because of its high quality.
