In 1145, Taiken-mon In (Rei Dan) suffers a severe illness. Toba In (Hiroshi Mikami) loses his composure and orders samurai to look for a narcissus flower out of the season, saying that a narcissus is the only way to comfort her illness. Kiyomori (Kenichi Matsumiya) who is depressed by the loss of Akiko (Ai Kato) was encouraged by Iemori (Shunsuke Daito) and decided to look for a narcissus for the Mon clan. While Kiyomori runs around the hills and fields in Kyoto, a virile samurai shows up. The man was Yoshitomo (Hiroshi Tamaki) who has been hardened by knight-errantry in eastern provinces. Yoshitomo tells Kiyomori that he has already obtained a narcissus and is about to bring it to Toba In. The reunion with an old enemy awakens the fighting spirit within Kiyomori.
