Mizuki's mother, a widow, has raised Mizuki and her two sisters by herself on a flower farm. After a quarrel with her mother, Mizuki leaves her family and hometown behind for Tokyo, only to become discouraged by city life and her own inability to commit to her live-in boyfriend. Upon learning that her mother has suffered a stroke, she reluctantly returns home. Mizuki is shocked to find that her mother is half paralyzed and suffering from aphasia. Faced with her mother's long-term rehabilitation, Mizuki's elder sister decides to sell the farm, and her younger sister moves from the town as her husband's job is relocated. As these circumstances begin to pull her family apart, Mizuki discovers the meaning of family and attempts to strengthen her family ties.
